Bidhannagar Govt. High School, or BNGHS, is an educational institution in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. It is situated in BD block in Salt lake and hence also popularly referred as BD School. It is the first government co-educational senior secondary school established in West Bengal. The medium of teaching is Bengali and English. The school is affiliated to West Bengal Board of Secondary Education and West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education. ==History== Bidhan Nagar Government High school was established in 1977 (officially on 18 April) with 50 students. It was started as a secondary school only. The first Head-master was Sri. Satyendranath Ray. In its early days BNGHS was surrounded by lush green fields and trees. The school building is one of the oldest buildings in Salt Lake. It has seen the whole Salt lake become urbanized around it.
